Meet our team

Together as partners they took over and expanded Hawaii Endodontics. They maintain three full time practices in Aiea, Kailua and Honolulu. They are active members of the American Dental Association, American Association of Endodontists and Hawaii State Dental Association. They also volunteer their time as a Clinical Instructors at Kokua Kalihi Valley community health center.

Our mission at Hawaii Endodontics is one committed to excellence and high quality endodontic treatment. We pride ourselves in providing the highest standard of professional care in a friendly, caring, and comfortable environment. We strive to make each dental visit a positive experience for our patients by optimizing patient comfort and minimizing pain. As a team, we run a practice considerate to our patients’ individual needs and concerns, and execute well-organized treatment in a professional manner.

We understand the fear and anxiety that many people experience when it comes to undergoing a root canal. That’s why we’ve created a relaxed treatment environment that focuses on outstanding patient communication and advanced techniques that minimize pain and discomfort.

All of us at Hawaii Endodontics have dedicated our professional lives to improving the dental health and care of our patients. We are always available for our patients and will make certain that all your needs are thoughtfully met by our doctors and staff. We base our measure of success on the quality of the relationship we have with each patient and on the quality of the dental service we provide.

Dr. Howard Kang

Dr. Howard Kang

Dr. Howard Kang attended a 7-year dual degree BS/DDS program at St. Johns University and Columbia University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. He then graduated at the top of his class from the University of Pennsylvania where he received his doctorate degree. After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania, he then completed an AEGD program with Lutheran Medical Center at Kokua Kalihi Valley community health center. From there Dr. Kang went on to receive his certificate of advanced graduate studies in Endodontics at Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY where he served as chief resident.

Dr. Aimee Kim

Dr. Aimee Kim Dr. Aimee Kim grew up in Hawaii, attending McKinley High School and University of Hawaii at Manoa. She completed her dental education and Endodontic specialty residency at University of Pennsylvania, where her research was published in the prestigious Journal of Endodontics. In Hawaii she’s been practicing Endodontics since 2006. She’s affiliated with the Hawaii Dental Association, the American Dental Association and the American Association of Endodontics. She is a mother of two children. In her free time she enjoys time with her family, pilates exercise and traveling.

Dr. Farid Brian Shaikh

Dr. Farid Brian Shaikh

Dr. Farid Brian Shaikh graduated from The University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine as Class President and Valedictorian. He completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency through The Lutheran Medical Center at Kokua Kalihi Valley Health Center in Honolulu, and completed Endodontic Specialty training at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA. He was inspired to become an Endodontist by his fascination with the complexity of the field, and the ability to relieve patients from pain. Dr. Shaikh passed rigorous multi-year written and oral board examinations given by the American Board of Endodontics in order to become a Board Certified Endodontist. He lectures nationally and has become known for several presentations, notably at The American Association of Endodontics Annual Conference in Boston Massachusetts, The Army, Air Force, Coast Guard and Navy Dental Symposium at Ford Island in Pearl Harbor, and The Lutheran Medical Center Endodontic Symposium in Honolulu. Dr. Shaikh currently serves as the President of the Honolulu County Dental Society.

Dr. Sean Gurney

Dr. Sean Gurney

Was born and raised on Oahu and attended Punahou School. He then attended the University of Michigan, and found his passion for dentistry. After graduating from USC dental school he moved back home to work in the underserved Kokua Kalihi Valley Community health center for 3 years, where he found my calling in Endodontics. Since completing his Endodontic Specialty training at Lutheran Medical Center, he has been in private practice in Hawaii for the past 8 years.

Dr. Jesica Liu

Dr. Jesica Liu

Dr. Jessica Liu received her Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Carnegie Mellon University. After earning her Master of Health Services Administration at The George Washington University, she attended and graduated with high distinctions from Howard University College of Dentistry. Her combined education and her past experience as a dental assistant gave her the insight and desire to provide excellence in dental care with a focus on the patient’s experience. Dr. Liu followed her passion towards helping patients retain their smile and alleviate their pain, and continued her post graduate training in endodontics at the University of Pennsylvania. While in residency, she taught pre-doctorate students, as well as dentists attending the department’s hands-on microsurgery course.

Dr. Liu is a member of the American Dental Association, American Association of Endodontics,
and Omricon Kappa Upsilon Honor Dental Society. She is a Board Eligible Endodontist with the
American Board of Endodontics.
